Window glass foam tape is a double-sided PE foam tape that is specifically designed for window glass.
Glazed tape is commonly used during installation to prevent wind and water from entering by creating an internal seal between the insulated glass panel and the sash/box. Other uses include installation of signs, nameplates, plastic strips and mirrors.
The foam used for glass window tape is a high performance closed cell crosslinked polyethylene coated on both sides with a high performance solvent-based acrylic adhesive. The adhesive system is suitable for bonding with glass, wood and aluminum substrates with fast bonding speed, high peel adhesion and very good strength.
Double-sided window tape provides excellent weather resistance for outdoor applications. It has a superior seal that prevents dust and moisture due to its flexible, soft foam. The easily peeled poly lining allows for continuous and complete removal of the lining during the window glass application (creating a seal between the insulating glass panel and the sash, helping to prevent air and water leaks). Glazing tape is a cleaner, more convenient alternative to glazing putty and other products that are messy or harder to apply.
Application guide
Clean surface debris with a clean, damp rag. The surface should be completely dry before continuing with the tape.
Do not overstretch the tape, stick the adhesive side to the surface.
Use a weighted roller to ensure adhesive tape to the surface and cut as needed, leaving minimal gaps. Make sure not to stretch the glazing tape around the corners, this will cause the outside to thin and may create bumps on the inside. Avoid overlapping the foam tape, as it will not compress enough to avoid gaps.
For small gaps, use silicone or other sealant that will work with the window glazed tape product.
Pull back a small section of liner to form a clamp.
Center and install glass
Remove the label from the liner and press the glass into the foam tape.
Allow 24 to 72 hours to reach full bonding strength.
Make sure to store the tape at room temperature and apply it to a non-cold surface.
